Paul Magron
I am a tenured research scientist (Chargé de Recherche) within the project-team MULTISPEECH (Nancy, France). This is a joint research team of Inria (my employer), Université of Lorraine and CNRS within the mixed research unit LORIA (UMR 7503).
Research Interests
From a methodology standpoint, my research is devoted to signal processing and machine learning.
- Deep learning, nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF), statistical models for NMF.
- Hybrid NMF / deep learning models.
- Phase-aware signal processing: phase recovery, phase-aware probabilistic modelling.
In terms of applications, I am interested in astronomy and audio processing.
- Astronomy imaging: globular cluster analysis with deep learning.
- Audio processing: music source separation, speech enhancement.
- Previously: music recommendation, audio restoration.
Short Bio
I graduated from the École des Ponts ParisTech (Champs-sur-Marne, France), and obtained the Master’s degree in Acoustics, Signal Processing, and Computer Science applied to Music from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, France) in 2013. From 2013 to 2016, I was a Ph.D. student at Télécom ParisTech (Paris, France) within the Image, Data, Signal department, under the supervision of Roland Badeau and Bertrand David. From 2017 to 2019, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Tampere University (Tampere, Finland) within the Audio Research Group, under the supervision of Tuomas Virtanen. From 2019 to 2021, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT), within the Signals and Communications group, located in Toulouse, France. I worked under the supervision of Cédric Févotte as part of the ERC-funded project FACTORY.
